Sophia Kind is a flutist and music educator from Germany. She performs as a soloist as well as in various chamber music and orchestral formations and devotes herself in particular to the field of historically informed performance practice. Sophia Kind is regularily involved in diverse projects with renowned ensembles such as the Freiburger Barockorchester, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Vox Luminis or Continuum Berlin and participated in several recordings with them. She plays at various early music festivals and concerts in Germany and abroad with reputed musicians such as Sir Simon Rattle, René Jacobs, Pablo Heras-Casado or Andrea Marcon. 

After studying German Language & Literature and Music Pedagogy in Freiburg i. Br. (2014-2020), Sophia Kind continued with her transverse flute master studies at the HfMDK Frankfurt with Karl Kaiser & Daniela Lieb (2020-2023). She supplemented her interest in historical flutes with a soloist Master with Christoph Huntgeburth at the UdK Berlin (2021-2022). As a sholarship holder of the Baden-Württemberg foundation and Erasmus+, Sophia Kind spent time abroad at the Soai University Osaka (Japan) and the Koninklijke Conservartorium Den Haag (NL) where she studied Traverso with Kate Clark and Wilbert Hazelzet (2018/19). She received further important musical impulses among others from Barthold Kuijken, Marc Hantaï, Johanna Bartz, Claire Genewein and François Lazarevitch.
Since 2023, Sophia Kind is teaching Traverso at the Musikschule of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel (CH) and since 2024 at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg (D).
